Principal for a Day

Knox County business leaders have the opportunity to spend a day visiting one of Knox County’s schools through the Principal for a Day program.  Community leaders learn about issues facing public education from the perspective of a school principal.

County Commissioner Brad Anders visited Hardin Valley Elementary School.
Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett discusses the impact of early literacy efforts on students with Ball Camp Principal Brandon Pratt and Superintendent Jim McIntyre.

On November 15, 2012, community leaders had the opportunity to spend one-half of a day as a Principal For A Day at one of 88 schools across the county. The visiting PFAD's attended a lunch meeting where they discussed their experience and provided feedback to Dr. Jim McIntyre, Superintendent of the Knox County School System.

This initiative, outlined in the KCS’s Strategic Plan, brings together a broad range of government, community and business leaders to participate in a half-day experience with a school principal.  They will meet school administrators, visit classrooms, interact with support staff, and see the life of a school from inside the school walls.
